Unsere Ziele:
 | Neutering
Program
Wild living cats and dogs will be
neutered on a regular basis, in order to prevent uncontrolled
procreation and thereby to avoid killing-actions committed by the
islanders. The neutered animals will be earmarked accordingly.

from Rhodos, while working in Chalki.

 | Medical Care
Parasites are a serious problem: Ticks,
fleas, worms. There are excellent medicaments on the market, but it is
difficult to administer them to wild-living animals. Furthermore, it
happens very often that animals are injured and the healing of wounds
is impaired because of the heat in summer and the poor nourishment. We plan to establish a central collection-point for items of any kind:
food, medicaments against parasites and diarrhea, bandage material,
special food for motherless kitten etc. Veterinarians spending their
holidays on the island, are asked to look after injured animals or
badly-kept farm animals. |
 | Education on Animal Protection at School
Education and information on the Greek Animal Welfare Act and on a
ethical treatment of farm animals should be a regular subject of
school education. Especially the children, who are our future, should
early learn to behave in a different way

Their mother was poisoned, the kitten survived -
but 1 day after going home, the kitten disapeared !

 | Enlightment of the Population
It is not acceptable that cats are
poisoned every year, cats heavy with young, kitten as well as mothers
leaving behind a litter of young. Recently, cats were even shot! All
animals contribute to the ecological balance and have a right to live.
The fact, that fire arms are even used .in residential areas, presents
a danger for other individuals.
Creative minds are welcome! We intend to create
posters and put them
up in public places and buildings, to remind the population of a
peaceful “co-existence” with animals. |
